Description

In my experience, I’ve gotten more “crema” by using a paper filter with the Prismo (including the metal filter), likely because of the extra force (pressure) required to push the water through. The one-way valve prevents coffee from flowing through until there’s enough pressure in the brew chamber.

Compatibility: The Fellow Prismo is compatible only with the original Aeropress, while the Aeropress Flow Control Filter Cap works with both the Original and GO versions. There simply isn’t enough pressure created, and if there were, you would probably not be able to push the plunger down. However, some of the links in this post are affiliate links and if you choose to make a purchase through these links I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.Since every other metal filter I’ve come across so far requires the inverted method to work properly, Prismo is also the best metal filter on the market. As always, we recommend freshly roasted specialty beans with a roast date of 10 days or fewer for optimal taste and flavor. Workarounds: Some have had luck with pouring hot water in the Prismo (with the filter in place) and letting it sit for a few minutes before dumping it out and attaching it to the AeroPress Go. For that, and to truly achieve authentic espresso, you’ll still need a pump driven espresso machine. In fact, it was quite effortless to push down—different from what I had been reading about up to this point.

Its unique design combines elements of immersion brewing and pressure extraction, resulting in a smooth, rich, and flavorful cup of coffee. It was developed because when using the AeroPress, as initially designed by inventor Alan Adler, some water would start leaking through or around the paper filter even before the plunger was pushed ( 4).Generally speaking, you should be able to get 3-5 uses out of a filter before it starts to affect the taste of your coffee. In the case of the Prismo, a plastic screw-on lid with a valve can only be so appealing, but it won’t ruin the aesthetics of your AeroPress. At this point you can lift the Aeropress off the scale, the no-drip seal will prevent any coffee from leaking out. It promised to deliver a truly convincing shot of espresso and the ability to brew full immersion coffee with your AeroPress without relying upon the inverted method. We're a bunch of self-confessed coffee nerds, each with our own journey through the specialty coffee industry.

Using the Prismo is as easy as using an AeroPress coffee maker – easier in some ways, as you will see.Allegedly, it’s more suitable for use in conjunction with paper filters, offers better sealing, and compatibility with smaller cups. To avoid this effect and achieve a more balanced flavour profile, many baristas started setting up their AeroPress upside down – aka the inverted method. I started at the finest setting and worked my way slowly down until I found the balance between extraction and sediments in the espresso. Cleaning: Although the manufacturer’s guide claims that the Prismo is easy to clean, our experience with the attachment suggests otherwise. The Prismo screws onto the bottom of an Aeropress as an alternative to the standard filter attachment.

The Fellow Prismo is one of those new-fangled gadgets made as an AeroPress attachment that claims to produce an espresso-style shot of coffee. When it comes to pour over coffee, we acknowledge how big a role different kinds of filters can play. We want to help you find an origin that matches your preferences in acidity, body, and flavor notes! To be honest, it’s one of the better reusable filters for the AeroPress I’ve come across and outshines the Able Disk filter in performance in my opinion. Fellow Prismo Filter Quality: It's reported that the metal filter on the Prismo can let a little grit through, but a quality grinder and proper grind size can reduce this.
