About this deal

Child Soldiers: Thomas joins the IRA when he's 6. Even before this he knew how to remove the clip from a pistol and use a shotgun. This is what prompted his father to turn informant. I've agreed to collaborate with another big writer in summer 2014 that I'm also excited about. Afterward, I'm considering either moving into European comics or perhaps taking a break and getting into video games and concept art for a while. I'm also considering writing scripts for other artists, but we'll see.

Sarah Palin scared the shit out of me in 2007 -- I was floored that someone that ignorant could come so close to being President. And a lot of her comments were about religion, politics, and the media. It made me want to take action, but I was just a comic book artist and I wasn't sure what I could do. Hellblazer: City of Demons (with Si Spencer, five-issue limited series, Vertigo, December 2010 – May 2011, ISBN 1-4012-3153-5) The book means a lot to me, so I'm working extra hard on the art. Maybe part of me is afraid that people will think that the writing is no good, and by increasing the level of art I'm hoping to convince them I'm a better writer than I really am.O'Shea, Tim (January 18, 2010). "Talking Comics with Tim: Sean Murphy". Robot 6. Comic Book Resources . Retrieved January 19, 2010. The Shroud of Turin is a fake, but let's assume it's real. DNA from the Shroud could only have remained viable if frozen and vacuum-sealed - did they have fridges and vacuum cleaners in Jesus's time? How about for the following, say, 1900 years? No? OK, but it's a story, right? I mean the scientist claims to have developed a method to undo 2000 years of damage to the DNA, so there you go. She also mentions pheromone production as important in a child's development. Humans can't detect pheromones like animals in the wild can. That's just something perfume companies use in commercials. Seriously, what scientists worth his salt believes these things? Unless they are blinded by money. Then again, it could just be faith or something, so maybe I'm full of crap. Social commentary on the Christian Fundamentalism of Middle America, the addiction to reality TV, the name of profit, the nature of belief versus science, sin and redemption, family, manipulation, mega-corporations, Mass Media over-consumption, and freedom. The ending... Yeah, not a fan. It’s kinda anti-climactic and I wasn’t a fan of the results well... except for the douchebag producer dying. Break the Cutie: Almost everyone in the story who isn't Slate gets this at some point. Most notably Gwen (who at one point nearly gets Driven to Suicide) and Dr. Epstein.

The ending is okay, but to me the build up of the first half was very well done. the protagonist's conversion a to something quite contrasting with his upbringing afterwards, was quite rushed comparing to that. This was a 6 issue mini series, if the creator told the story in 10 issues i think it might have done the work. When the Helicopter is going down, Chris and Co. are all together, but when it crashes, Chris is death between the choppers while the rest of the gang is perfectly safe far from him, how?! (also did you noticed the "apologies to michelangelo" not in that panel? that was funny, I didn´t see it the first time, I think I was really in the story). Chris undertakes the most radical transformation, absorbing what’s being kept from him, and learning from his first failed rebellion how to ensure a second succeeds. Needless to say, there are none of the desperately hoped-for miracles, at least not beyond contrivance, and Murphy is exceptional at conveying the dismay and confusion of the young Chris. He is also the creator of the Murphyverse, a sub-continuity that serves as the setting for stories featuring Batman that is separate from the main DC Universe continuity. These include Batman: White Knight and its sequels Curse of the White Knight and Beyond the White Knight, which Murphy wrote and illustrated.

If you’re interested in this I would recommend it but if these themes don’t appeal to you, this book most likely won’t.
