About this deal

No one can break the Astra Militarum when they’re dug in, and the Aegis Defence Line is the perfect redoubt. This set contains two defence lines each consisting of six connected barricades and a central command platform. ToW: Without spoiling anything, who are the main characters and what do we need to know about them? The narrators accent was jarring at first but I got use to it and by the end it sort of grew on me. I wasn't keen on the way she portrayed shouting as a gruff whisper but its probably better than a high pitched howl.

After its fall to Chaos, the shattered remains of Cadia have become a new stronghold for the forces of Chaos. The Death Guard are the antagonists in the Dark Imperium books, but here they’re the disgustingly brilliant protagonists of a story which explores what life is like for the ‘bad guys’ in the wake of the Great Rift. It’s a relatively small scale story, but well worth investigating for a brilliant take on Chaos Space Marines. Justin D Hill follows up his Ursarkar Creed short stories in Legends of the Dark Millennium: Astra Militarum with the tale of the hero's finest - and darkest - hour. Let's get the obvious one out of the way first - This isn't Gaunt's Ghosts. Don't deny it, just about all of you thought of them at least briefly during that introduction due to the direction and style of Cadian Honour. While there are some general comparisons which can be drawn up between the two series, they more or less begin and end with "Regiments who have lost their homeworld and are dying out".the writing is boring. the characters are flat and banal, from troops, to officers, to commissars, to heretics. they re also stupid. Those who survived, though haunted by the loss of their beloved homeworld, remain bloodied and unbarred, fighting ruthlessly in the Emperor’s name. Amongst them is the indomitable Sergeant Minka Lesk. Sent to the capital world of Potence, Lesk and the Cadian 101st company soon discover that a rot runs through the very heart of the seemingly peaceful world. As the Warp and its foul denizens claimed the remains of the Fortress World, Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed arranged an evacuation of the planet that saved 3 million of its citizens before the planet finally ripped itself apart -- though not before Creed himself mysteriously disappeared.

Also hitting shelves this weekend is a Minka Lesk: The Last Whiteshield , a massive omnibus collecting all five of the previous Minka Lesk stories in one place, the perfect introduction to this character and her exploits. Within the Eye of Terror, the Chaos Gods rule over uncounted numbers of planets, all warped to reflect their own dark aspects. It was there that the Traitor Legions found refuge, isolated from the rest of the galaxy by potent Warp Storms. Each of the planets within the Eye is a Daemon World, warped and twisted by the whims of the Ruinous Powers and the powerful Daemon Princes who rule over them in the Dark Gods' name. There are several things I really liked about the book, one of them being both a quality and a bit of a flaw: it's the fact that we follow several characters at the same time (nothing really new here), with some nice surprises with some of the characters. I wouldn't want to spoil it too much but one of these characters has a very interesting arc, which I wasn't expecting. Others were more or less interesting but it allows to explore several layers of the imperial society of this planet, which was a cool idea. The guard are a wonderful faction to read about. I love to read about all the crazies but it takes a good guard novel to let me see how brutal and truely messed up it all is. We all know humans after all. Seeing the new look Imperium through the eyes of defeated cadians is about as brutal as I can imagine. Cadia Stands was a frantic story,it was total overwhelming defeat, it was humiliation. I want to see how they respond when life moves to a new normal.Though their home planet was utterly sundered, the resolve of the Cadians has not been broken. Veteran survivors of the last battle for Cadia, along with regiments of their kin scattered throughout the galaxy, now fight even more doggedly against the Imperium's enemies. This offers a ‘boots on the ground/grunt’s eye view’ perspective on the fall of Cadia, told from multiple Imperial Guard viewpoints and reflecting the chaos and confusion as the Cadians reel from Abaddon’s invasion. Et bien, si vous voulez de l'action sur des champs de bataille, vous serez bien servi avec ce tome-ci. Comme avec le roman Krieg de Steve Lyons, des combats intenses font rage et des horreurs ont lieu sur toute la planète.

Unfortunately, given how much praise is leveled at smaller scale combat, you can imagine what we're going to delve into with the next bit. Read my review of Ghost Warrior or my Rapid Fire interviews with Gav about Ghost Warrior and Wild Rider. What else? As befits Abaddon's cruelty and meticulous planning, thirteen massive transports of combat-drugged mutants, wretches, Plague Zombies and Chaos Spawn were crash-landed into the ruined city of Kasr Kharkovan, ensuring that many of the final assaults were performed by the least storied of the Lost and the Damned among his armies. It seemed that although many Chaos fleets had ventured out of the Eye, very few Imperial fleets ventured in. No battle fleet of any size could rely upon other stable passages from the Eye of Terror and they were required to pass through the Cadian Gate. Cadian Regiment - The 203rd Cadian Regiment fought beside the 2nd Company of the Ultramarines Chapter that was commanded by Captain Titus during the Imperium's liberation of the Forge World of Graia during the events of Space Marine. The regiment's remaining forces were commanded by 2nd Lieutenant Mira. JH: I think this one came out pretty much as planned. It’s the first one I’m thinking at publication: YES! – this is what I wanted to write and I’ve done it.
