The jet bikes have a lot of sticky-out fins and footrests that do seem to love slipping out of their slots when you turn your back on them for a moment, and these parts won’t survive being dropped even from a small height (as I found out to my detriment). And with that, that’s enough about Elves, so it’s on to TheChirurgeon to talk about Chaos Space Marines.

The difference is that these sets were “Starter Boxes” and contained ETB or easy-to-build miniatures. Very excited about Autarchs, all things considered, and excited to see how the book follows through on all these cool weapons for the Aspects. As a despearate last move, he unleashes the energies of his Noctilith Crowns, killing or at least paralyzing most of the Eldar.

The second mission sees the Warpsmith attempting to protect devices crucial to his exploitation of the World Spirit, with the Aeldari units attempting to destroy them. Eldritch Omens turns this on its head entirely, with only a single “old” figure in the box – the Forgefiend. On the edge of the roiling warp storms that plague the Nachmund Gauntlet, the bloodthirsty hunters of Craftworld Saim-Hann are set to clash with an elite Forgeborn Warband. We expect there to be more new miniatures still coming (definitely for Chaos) for the factions overall, but this box will probably be released far ahead of any other release wave.

There are 2 sprues are for the Forgefiend/Maulerfiend, 1 for the Autarch, 1 for the Warpsmith, 1 for the Chosen, 1 for the Shroud Runners and 1 for the Rangers. That all seems set to change in 2022, with the new Eldritch Omens box coming in hard as the precursor to a major range re-launch for the Aeldari. A great deal of effort has been spent on ensuring the setting and narrative aspects of the box are fully established and explored, and whilst it’s somewhat predictable, it is nonetheless quite good fun.

Very often these Battleboxes contain older models, however here with have a set that outside of the Forgefiend this is brand new stuff that is currently exclusive to the box! Closer in is where the fun really starts, because both the other options make up for their 12″ range with some truly wild capabilities. That’s much nicer, and sending these off to be a pain on a distant objective with some handy nearby terrain seems intersting.

New Eldar and Chaos Warhammer 40k miniatures are coming in the Eldritch Omens Box, but is there going to be any value inside? On the side of the Ruinous Powers, there’s a brutal Warpsmith with a whirling gyre of corrupted mechatendrils, five majestic Chosen Chaos Space Marines, and a Forgefiend (which can also be built as a Maulerfiend). I fully intend to put those on all my units of these, and I’m hoping I’m guessing correctly which part is which out of the kit, as the Battlebox instructions don’t label these. A bit more thought has gone into the Crusade rules for each faction, which are found on pages 22-23, though these are still sparse when compared to the rules offered for other factions.It’s interesting that this planet is explicitly an Exodite world and we even get passages talking about dinosaur riding Aeldari!
